Recent PTI Ratings Indicate Habitat Improvement (click here for supporting study)

An in-house study of macroinvertebrates finds that, with FRRCCT Event sediment removal, samples exhibit a more diverse, pollution intolerant, community of macroinvertebrates. This graph compares Hoosier River Watch (HRW) Pollution Index Ratings (PTI) prior to Event sediment removal. Prior to remediation, PTI ratings exhibited a downward trend, suggesting further habitat degradation. The FRRCCT non-remediated sample site (FR1) had a low PTI rating, corresponding with the downward trend from previous HRW non-remediated sample sites. The FRRCCT remediated sample site has a much higher PTI rating, indicating a much-improved habitat. These results only further our interest in macroinvertebrate research and their response to our multi-faceted approach to sediment removal.
